All About Usamimi
Ever wonder why Usagimimi (or Usamimi in short) was such a popular theme to be used on anime / game characters? This issue needs to go back to moe anthropomorphism and I’m not typing them again since you can read them here.
In exchange of it, I’ll have a little discussion on usamimi itself in this entry. And yes, this is also a personal gift for one of my real life friend, Jen. Hope you like it~
Usagimimi / Usamimi literally means bunny ear. They’re usually used to ‘increase’ Moe-ness on a particular character or just simply for fan service. The most famous fan service up-to-date in my memory would be Kallen from Code Geass Season 2. I’m sure many viewers would remember the pink bunny girl costume on her (And I believe more wants it on CC).
Of course, who would forget the bunnies in The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi? This picture can be found easily in Google and other search engine, seriously.
Or you prefer this version? I don’t think this one is that common yet:
Else, the typical Usagimimi characters in anime taken from wikipedia would be:
Alice from Angelic Layer
All characters from the Rabbit Force from Getsumento Heiki Mina
Arina Makihara from Waku Waku 7
Arisu Arisugawa and the other bunnygirls from Kagihime Monogatari Eikyuu Alice Rondo
Berry Shirayuki from Tokyo Mew Mew A la Mode (Also part mountain cat)
Delmo from Cosplay Complex
Erina Goldsmith from Variable Geo
Fran from Final Fantasy XII
Futaba and Konohana from Pick of the Litter
Komugi Nakahara from The SoulTaker and Nurse Witch Komugi
Kuya and Sakuya from Utawarerumono
Lily from Animonster
Meroko Yui from Full Moon O Sagashite
Mika from Angel Tales
Mimika from Usagi-chan de Cue
Mint Blancmanche from Galaxy Angel
My Melody and Kuromi from Onegai My Melody
Nyozeka from Alice 19th
Rami Nana-Hikari from the Keio Flying Squadron series
Reisen Udongein Inaba and Tewi Inaba from Imperishable Night
Siesta45 and Siesta410 from Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Usada Akari from Di Gi Charat Nyo
Usada Hikaru from Di Gi Charat
Usahara from Damekko Doubutsu
As for games, usamimi is very common for equipments. The most recognized one should be Ragnarok Online, I still remember the hardships on hunting the four-leaf clover.. *Sniffs*
Another two examples:
In some cases like Trickster Online, usamimi is not an equipment but a featured character itself.
Here’s a small trivia, who is the lord of bunny?
*Drum rolls*
Why Honey-Senpai you said? You’ll know after you watch Ouran High School Host Club. Yet, I suggest you to keep his image as cute as above or..
So that’s it for now. Here’s a fan service from Burogu featured by Shirley~
